These data saving tips will show you how to save data when you use Facebook and WhatsApp on your phone.
Uninstall apps you don’t need
Be sure to uninstall all the apps you don’t use regularly. This is because some apps refresh and update themselves automatically and can end up using your data. When you delete apps you don’t need, it keeps frees up storage space on your phone and improves your battery life.
Take control of your Facebook app
Watch only the videos you choose by changing your Facebook app settings quickly and easily. Here’s how:
- Open the Facebook app
- Tap
- Scroll down and tap App Settings
- Tap Video Auto-play
- Choose On, Wi-Fi only or Off
‘On’ plays any videos you see in your News Feed. ‘Wi-Fi only’ plays the videos when you are connected to Wi-Fi. If you set autoplay to ‘Off’, you’ll have total control over what plays when.
Stop Whatsapp from using all of your data
Whatsapp automatically downloads all media – the photos, videos and audio your contacts send you. Here’s how you can change it and save data:
- Open Whatsapp
- Go to settings
- Open the Data Usage section
- Choose ‘Wi-Fi and Cellular’, ‘Wi-Fi only’ or ‘Never’
‘Wi-Fi and Cellular’ automatically downloads all media all the time. ‘Wi-Fi only’ will wait until you are on Wi-Fi before downloading media. ‘Never’ gives you complete control over Whatsapp downloads.
Remember Whatsapp always automatically downloads audio messages.
