Yes, you can have beautiful hair that grows faster! Unlock your hair’s full growing potential with these easy tips.
Your hair grows 15cm per year on average. But when it is severely damaged it will break and seem as if it hasn’t grown at all. It is therefore important to know how to properly take care of your hair.
It may be a tough decision to make, but trimming your damaged ends makes way for beautiful, healthier hair. Split, fragile ends need a snip once every four months – 1½cm is sufficient for your hair to maintain its length. If you wait too long, your hair will split even more and you’ll have to cut more. Patience is key when growing your hair.
Here are more ways to make your hair grow:
Low manipulation
Try protective hairstyles like twist outs and Bantu knots. Just make sure they are not too tight.
Do not dry brush
Apply a generous amount of conditioner to your hair. Then using either your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to get rid of any knots and tangles.
Deep conditioning therapy
Try the LOC method:
L stands for leave-in. This is the layer of moisture that will be locked in. Try BLM Curl Wake-up Hydrate Spray or just ordinary conditioner. Apply to the hair with some water and gently run your fingers through.
O is for oil: Castor, olive and argan oil are perfect to lock in the conditioner and moisture.
C stands for cream: Apply a cream moisturiser or butter-based product to seal in the moisture. It will also help define your curls. Try BLM Curl Hydrate Pudding, which is lightweight and non-greasy.
Shampoo less often
Washing your hair with shampoo strips it of its natural oils and dries out the hair follicles. Instead shampoo twice a month and co-wash (wash with conditioner only) your hair in between.
