A denim jacket is versatile, the perfect layering piece and you can wear it season after season. Follow our guide to find the perfect style and colour for you.
1. Great fit
Finding the right fit for your frame is key. Your denim jacket should feel comfortable with or without the buttons or zip done up. The cuffs should sit on your wrists – not extending past the creases of your thumbs. For petite shapes, go for a slightly shorter jacket that sits just above your hips. Plus-sized ladies look best in a style with side panels and a more stretchy fabric that flatters their curves.
2. Choose your colour
Is this is your first time shopping for a denim jacket? Then a neutral shade like blue, black or white is your most versatile option.
Think about two things:
- How am I going to wear my jacket – casual or smart?
- How will my jacket complement different outfits in my wardrobe?
It’s best to match the colour of your denim jacket with neutrals or by keeping your outfit tonal – in other words, different tones of the same colour.
3. Details and trims
Comfort is key in choosing a style that’s right for you. Do you prefer a zipper rather than buttons? That’s great, but make sure it’s easy enough to zip up with base layers tucked in. Ultimately you want to be comfortable but still look put together.
Choose a denim jacket that works with your personal style and you can’t go far wrong!
