Can I cancel my lay-by and get a refund?
If you cancel your lay-by before it expires, you will get a cash refund. If lay-by has expired, your refund will be in the form of an Ackerman's Gift Card.
Can I exchange items in my lay-by?
Unfortunately, you won't be able to exchange items in an active lay-by. What you can do is cancel the lay-by, get a refund and then start a new lay-by with the items you want.
What is needed to pay or collect a lay-by?
You will need the lay-by slip or you can use your ID book/card to pay for or collect your lay-by.
Lay-by collection without the slip
You may collect your lay-by without your slip. You need to show the store assistant your ID book/card for them to locate your details on their system.
Lay-by collection for someone else
You can collect a lay-by on behalf of someone else provided you have a copy of their ID & the lay-by slip.
Can I pay for my lay-by at any Ackermans store?
Yes, you can pay for your lay-by at any Ackermans store, but you can only collect it from the store you originally made the lay-by from.
What is the procedure for lay-by extensions?
If you need a lay-by extension, you can go to the store with your receipt or ID and ask for an extension. A new slip will be printed for you.
Can I create a lay-by with my passport?
Yes, a passport is perfectly acceptable when creating a lay-by.

You’ll need your original lay-by till slip or ID/driver’s license. Can’t collect yourself? Whoever collects on your behalf needs a letter of consent from you and a copy of your ID.*in your country.
